The State Government has announced the notification for employees state insurance corporation. Further, the State governments are also to reimburse the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) for the medication of non-ESI beneficiaries at the ESI hospitals that were proclaimed COVID-19 hospitals last year, the Labour and Employment Ministry. The State governments are ultimately to pay back the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) for treatment of non-ESI beneficiaries at the ESI hospitals that were announced COVID-19 hospitals last year, the Labour and Employment Ministry notified the Lok Sabha on Monday.

To an issue by MPs Syed Imtiaz Jaleel and Asaduddin Owaisi, Labour and Employment Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar stated: “The ESIC has petitioned the State governments for reimbursement towards the treatment of non-ESI beneficiaries as per reimbursement rates existing in the State. So far, no State has paid the quantity requested by the ESIC.

Further, the written reply also confessed 4,961 beds in ESI hospitals in 18 States involve Delhi, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Gujarat and Haryana had been converted into COVID beds.
