Another great piece of good news for exporters and farmers as APEDA exports five varieties of apples to Bahrain. Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) and Himachal Pradesh Horticultural Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation Ltd (HPMC) shipped their initial shipment of five types of apples on Friday.
APEDA has collaborated with HPMC to continue its pursuit to boost agricultural and processed food exports. In this article, we will read about the latest update as APEDA exports five varieties of apples.
APEDA exports five Varieties of Apples to Bahrain
The APEDA exported its first consignment of unique five varieties of Apples from Himachal. These unique five varieties of apples are as follows.
- Royal Delicious,
- Dark Baron Gala,
- Scarlet Spur,
- Red Velox & Golden Delicious
All these special varieties were sourced from local farmers in Himachal and exported to Bahrain by APEDA registered DM Enterprises. Furthermore, Leading retailer Al Jajira company will feature the apples from 15th August 2021 onwards as part of its apple promotion programme.
What is APEDA?
The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) is a government organization that was established in 1985 by an act to promote the development and expansion of scheduled commodity exports.
It provides financial aid, knowledge, and guidance to help planned goods advance.
The APEDA ACT defines some items as scheduled products, and exporters of such scheduled products have to register under APEDA to avail the various benefits of APEDA Registration.
APEDA Boosts Fruits and Vegetable exports
APEDA is working very hard to boost the export business in India. Though India was still suffering from the Covid-19 Crisis, APEDA to boost the nation’s economy organized various virtual fairs.

To enhance the possibilities for exporting mangoes from Eastern Asia, particularly to the Middle East, a cargo of Geographical Identification (GI) certified Fazil mangoes from West Bengal’s Malda area was shipped to Bahrain in July 2021. Al Jazira group imported the shipment of Fazil mango from Kolkata, which was shipped by APEDA-registered DM enterprises.
Thus the export business of agriculture and processed foods will be a profitable business for exporters having APEDA Registration in the long run.
