APEDA virtual fair for horticulture products – To boost the export potential of India’s agricultural and processed food products during the COVID19 pandemic. Now the second virtual trade fair (VTF) for horticultural produce organized by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has been inaugurated. In this article, we will read about the Virtual fair for horticulture products by APEDA.

Know about APEDA

The Government of India in December 1985 established the APEDA under the APEDA Act. The statutory body is largely responsible for encouraging the export of scheduled items from India, among other things. If an individual or company wants to begin an export business, he or she has to get an APEDA Registration.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, it was unlikely to organize the virtual fair physically. Consequently, an export development authority (APEDA) for agricultural or processed food products took the lead to organize a Virtual fair for horticulture products.

The three-day VTF shows exotic fruits, vegetables, and flora produced in India by worldwide importers from different places. More than 471 exhibitors or exporters on the virtual marketplace have showcased their items. The VTF was open for 543  visitors/importers from 27 May to 29 May.

Fresh veggies, fresh mangoes, and other fresh fruits were shown to their global importers by displayers or exporters. The United Kingdom, Bahrain, Bahrain, Israel, Suriname, Afghanistan, India, Singapore, the USA and several other countries participated in the virtual fair.

Previously, on March 10-12, 2021, APEDA held the inaugural Virtual Trade Fair with over 404 people in attendance. Over 313 exhibitor companies attend which put up 128 stands to present goods of the categories – basmati rice, non-basmati rice, millet, wheat, and cereals.

Benefits of Virtual fair for horticulture products

In the pre-COVID19 period, APEDA promoted the export of APEDA’s agricultural food via trade fairs and exhibits. The Virtual Trade Fair uses interactive technologies to facilitate trading.

During such exchanges, Virtual fairs safeguarded the online contacts between exporters and importers and shared data, and only the parties involved could view them.

These virtual events also give cost-efficient and fruitful opportunities for producers and consumers to bargain or talk to each other about trade shows or fairs in real-time. Exporters can avail of these and several other benefits only after APEDA Registration.

Let’s look at APEDA Registration and its benefits.

APEDA Registration and Benefits

For APEDA advantages, agricultural exporters must be certified by APEDA for the export of scheduled items. The APEDA Registration provides significant advantages. Some of the most important ones are as follows.

  • Exporters receive financial help, expertise, and guidance on the production and export of pre-programmed items.
  • In order to help enterprises improve operations, APEDA Registration provides many training services.
  • APEDA Registration is valid for five years and is a one-time process.
