5 Tips to Avoid Delays in FSSAI Registration & Licensing

The FSSAI department has given certain tips to avoid delays in the FSSAI Registration process.

Everyone is today suffering from the threat of Novel Coronavirus disease, or the COVID-19. The government has imposed a complete lockdown till 17th May 2020 to contain the spread of Coronavirus infection. The gravest concern is of the food business whose FSSAI license has been delayed.

Due to the COVID-19 lockdown, the food business operators (FBOs) have come to a halt. They are unable to meet their regular compliance. Moreover, the FBOs are facing huge delays in getting FSSAI registration or FSSAI license. Some are unable to renew their existing FSSAI licenses or FSSAI registration certificates.

In order to reduce the burden of such FBOs, the topmost food safety regulator FSSAI has already extended the due date for the FSSAI license renewal.

Now, FSSAI has shared some useful tips on how to prevent delays in getting the FSSAI registration.

Some of those useful tips are given below:

#1. Choose the right Kind of Food Business (KoB) 

The most fundamental error that arises while the FSSAI licensing is that the FBOs choose the wrong Kind of Food Business. It’s important to choose the Right Kind of Food Business. Know the Definition of KoBs of your FBOs.

#2. Choose the right kind of Food Product Categorization Code

Another basic error arises in the form of an incorrect Food Product Categorization Code. FSSAI has allotted several Categorization Codes for every type of Food Products. You can easily know the Food Product Categorization from the IFS-Quick Access portal. 

#3. Furnish Documents for FSSAI registration

Here are the required documents for FSSAI registration:-

• Passport Size Photo
• Identity Proof (Such as Voter ID Card, PAN Card, Driving License, Passport, Aadhar Card)
• Declaration
