Another positive update, as APEDA organises meet in Varanasi. The meeting was held on Saturday in Varanasi by the Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).

The meeting was held on Saturday in Varanasi by the Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA). The main agenda of APEDA’s meat was to promote agricultural crop exports and adherence to global practises.

Agricultural experts and officials from prominent institutes gave significant insights for increasing agricultural product exports from the region as well as farmers’ adherence to globally recognised Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) during the meet. This meeting drew over 200 farmers from the Varanasi region.

Many prominent institutes and personalities participated in the meet. For instance, Agricultural scientists and officials from ICAR-Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture, ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil Science, ICAR-Indian Institute of Vegetable Research, IRRI-South Asia Regional Centre, Narendra Dev University of Agriculture and Technology, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (Jaunpur, Varanasi, Ghazipur, and Chandauli), and Uttar Pradesh State Agriculture.

Furthermore, Senior officials from NABARD, NAFED, SFAC, BALMER LAWRIE, and other institutions briefed farmers. The FPOs, and exporters present in the meeting on their various departmental programmes were also present.

There was also a special session on banana export. In this special session a representative from an APEDA registered exporter addressed attendees on the banana processing process.

The ceremony in Varanasi was part of a series of activities commemorating the 75th anniversary of India’s independence. The government is  arranging it under the theme “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.”  This is a project to remember and celebrate 75 years of progressive India, as well as the rich history of its people, society, and accomplishments. Therefore, a presentation was also in display to highlight APEDA’s support to farmers.
