In the wake of the Novel Coronavirus disease or COVID-19, the government had enforced a nationwide Lockdown 4.0 till 31st May 2020.
After a comprehensive review, and in view of the Lockdown measures that have resulted in little mitigation of the COVID-19 situation in India, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), has issued an Order under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, to further extend the Lockdown for a further period of two weeks beyond 17th May 2020. Now the Lockdown 4.0 shall continue till 31st May 2020.
In light of Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi’s idea of “Jaan Bhi Jahaan Bhi”, the Lockdown 4.0 has come with certain relaxations in rules, along with strict social distancing norms. The government has allowed the running of some business activities with strict social distancing rules.
5 Zones during Lockdown 4.0:
This time, the entire Country region will be classified into 5 different zones on the basis of the intensity of COVID-19 infection:
- Red Zone
- Orange Zone
- Green Zone
- Containment Zone
- Buffer Zone
The government will soon release guidelines regarding the classification of these 5 zones.

- Domestic & International Flights.
- Metro rail services
- Schools,
- Colleges & educational institutions
- Hotel,
- Restaurants, cafe or other hospitality services
- Cinema Halls’
- Gyms
- Shopping malls
- Bars
- Swimming pools
- Theatres
- Amusement parks
- All gatherings- whether social, political, academic, cultural, entertainment and sports
- All religious places.
However, there is a bit of relaxation in this lockdown. The government has allowed for some more activities.
