This scheme offers several benefits to businesses having MSME Registration and also encourages them to grow more. Through this article, you will get to know about MSME Sustainable Certification Scheme in detail.

What is the MSME Sustainable Certification Scheme?

The MSME Sustainable Certification Scheme promotes and supports Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in implementing Zero Defect Zero Effect (ZED) practices. This Initiative seeks to encourage zero product recalls from the market while having no impact on the environment.

The scheme is divided into three levels:

  • Bronze
  • Silver
  • Gold

What is the MSME Sustainable Certification Scheme

After making the ZED Pledge, an MSME may apply for any Certification Level if it believes it can meet the criteria for that level.

The purpose of the ZED Pledge is to encourage MSMEs to continue on the ZED journey by obtaining their “pre-commitment” or solemn vow to respect the values of Zero Defect Zero Effect in their activities.

Eligibility Criteria for MSME Sustainable Certification Scheme

All businesses having a valid MSME registration on Udyam Portal are eligible for MSME Sustainable or ZED Certification and avail of all the benefits of the scheme.

Benefits of MSME Sustainable Certification Scheme

Through the route to ZED certification, MSMEs can raise production, reduce waste, improve awareness of environmental issues, optimally manage natural resources, conserve energy, grow their sales, etc.

Through guidance, evaluation, management, and innovative intervention, etc. The ZED certification improves MSMEs competitiveness. To improve their resource efficiency, MSMEs are encouraged to embrace best practices in the standardization of products, methods, strategies, work cultures, etc.

The Ministry of MSME has announced incentives for MSMEs to encourage them to reach higher ZED cation levels.

Besides, Incentives will also include the MSME KAWACH programme, which helps MSMEs prepare for and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Furthermore, MSMEs will receive assistance in achieving higher ZED levels as well as technical advancement for moving toward zero impact solutions, pollution control measures, and cleaner technologies.

What is the ZED Pledge?

Before applying for a ZED certification of bronze, silver, or gold, all MSMEs that begin the ZED journey will need to take the “ZED Pledge.” The MSMEs will have access to a certificate on the Workplace Assessment for Safety and Hygiene (WASH) standard as well as other capacity-building measures through MSME KAWACH as soon as they take the ZED commitment.

MSMEs can obtain a certification level after making the ZED vow if they believe they can meet the criteria specified at each level.

What is the purpose of the ZED Pledge?

The purpose of the ZED pledge is to help MSMEs advance on their ZED journey by obtaining a pre-commitment or solemn assurance from them to preserve the Zero Defect Zero Effect standards in their activities.
