Non-basmati rice exports in India had been increased to Rs.26,000 crore from April to January, the financial year 2020-2021. It was confirmed by the Indian Commerce Ministry on Thursday. In this article, we will discuss the notification on Non-basmati exports

Notification on Non-basmati rice exports

The Indian Commerce Ministry confirmed that Non- basmati rice exports in India had been increased to Rs.26,000 crore from April to January, the financial year 2020-2021.

It was only Rs.11,543 crore in the last year financial year, i.e. April-January, 2019-2020

After the impressive spike in Non-Basmati rice during April- January, the chairman of APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority), M. Angamuthu said that several things have been considered during this process. To continue uninterrupted non-basmati rice exports, safety and hygiene have also been taken care of.

During the current financial year 2020-2021, the rice exports is USD 3.506 million during the period of April-January against USD 1,627 million over the period of 2020-2019, April-January.

Its first consignment was flagged off on Thursday 4th Mar’2021 in the US.

Brahmaputra valley of Assam is the main source of farming for iron-rich ‘red rice’, without using any artificial fertilisers or harsh chemicals.

APEDA promotes the exports of processed food and agricultural products in India. It was established in December 1985 by the government of India.

The authority functions for the developments of export-oriented products. They are also liable to improve the marketing and packaging of the scheduled APEDA products. They also inspect and ensure the quality of scheduled products before exporting them.
