When is GSTIN Cancelled or revoked?

There can be several reasons for GST cancellation or revocation made by the GST Authority such as

• If GST Taxpayer violates any provisions of the GST laws or rules made there under.
• Composition dealer has not filed GST returns for three [3] consecutive tax periods.
• Any GST taxpayers not filed GST returns (other than composition) for a continuous period of six months.
• The voluntarily GST registered Taxpayer has not commenced business within six months from the date of gst registration.
• GST Registration has been obtained by means of fraud, willful misstatement, or suppression of facts.

Govt relief regarding GST restoration process

All those GST taxpayers who had filed for GST cancellation till 12th June 2020, can now file for GST restoration till 30th Sep 2020. This decision has been at the 40th GST Council meeting.

Who can apply for GST restoration?

The following gst taxpayers can apply for restoration of the cancelled GSTIN:

• Whose certificate was cancelled by the government due to non-compliance of GST Return filing. or
• Those who had filed for GST cancellation up to 12th June 2020.
