Income Tax Return filing Due date Extended
The Due date for Income Tax Return filing has been extended now.
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has notified that the Due date Income Tax Return filing is now extended from 31st July to 31st August 2019.
1. Why has ITR filing due date extended?
The finance ministry has postponed the deadline for Income tax return filing for the FY 2018-19 to 31st August 2019, from 31st July 2019 due to difficulties in ITR Filing.
Indeed, the extension is a much-needed relief to the tax assessees because there were several problems being faced by them in ITR filing.
2. What were the problems in ITR filing?
The previous deadline to file income tax returns for individual taxpayers was July 31, 2019. However, the taxpayers were facing the following problems-
- Online utility for ITR filing released late
- Due date of Quarter 1 TDS return
- Due date of Form-16 extended
- Detailed information required
- ITR forms not ready for filing
