What are the Documents Required for IEC Modification?

Undeniably, a unique Import Export Code serves as a gateway to enter into the international market, where you will be able to gain access to a vast platform of lucrative growth opportunities for your business. As a matter of fact, the export promotion has been the key concern of our government. In recent years, frequent initiatives and schemes have been undertaken by the trade & commerce authorities with a view to promoting the exports from India. The Indian businesses involved in the Import-Export trade can directly access these initiatives with the unique Import Export Code.

Any amendment or change done in the details of the business entity in its unique Import Export Code is known as IEC modification. Any export merchant who wishes to make changes in his Import Export Code Certificate need to modify immediately while filing an application for IEC modification.

In the case of an Import Export trade, there are chances that an entity has to undergo a change in the business address. In that case, it’s important to immediately change the address in the Import Export Code; else the business won’t be able to conduct global trade from its previous address. In order to change the address in the Import Export Code, change has to be made in the master details of the IEC code.

Documents required for updating the address on IEC registration

There are different kinds of documents needed to be furnished for changing the business address on the IEC registration, in case of diverse kinds of business entities.

#1. Sole proprietary firm

In case of a Sole proprietor firm, the following documents are needed to be furnished for changing the business address on the IEC registration:

Passport-size Photograph of the Proprietor.
Copy of PAN card of the Proprietor.
Copy of Passport (1^st & last page),
Voter’s I-Card,
Vehicle Driving Licence,
Aadhar card copy
Sale deed in case of own business premises, or Rental/Lease Agreement, in case of office is rented/leased; or latest electricity/telephone bill.
Bank Certificate / Cancelled Cheque bearing the printed name of the applicant and A/C No.

#2. Partnership firm

In case of a Partnership firm, the following documents are needed to be furnished for changing the business address on the IEC registration:

Passport-size Photograph of the Managing Partner.
Copy of PAN card of the applicant entity.
Copy of Passport (first & last page)
Voter’s I-Card,
Aadhar UID card
Driving Licence
PAN (any one of these) of the Managing Partner signing the application.
Copy of Partnership Deed.
Sale deed in case business premise is self-owned; or
Rental/Lease Agreement, in case of an office, is rented/ leased; or
latest electricity /telephone bill.
Bank Certificate
Canceled Cheque bearing preprinted name of the applicant entity and A/C No.

#4. Public Limited Company, Private Limited Company & LLP

In case of a Public Limited Company, Private Limited Company & LLP, the following documents are needed to be furnished for changing the business address on the IEC registration:

Passport-size Photograph of the Designated Partner/Director of the Company signing the application.
Copy of PAN card of the applicant entity.
Copy of Passport (first & last page),
Voter’s I-Card
Aadhar UID card
Driving Licence
PAN (or anyone of these) of the Managing Partner/Director who signed the application.
Certificate of incorporation as issued by the RoC
Sale deed in case business premise is self-owned; or
Rental/Lease Agreement, in case of an office, is rented/ leased; or
latest electricity bill
Bank Certificate as per ANF 2 A(I)
Canceled Cheque bearing preprinted name of the company and A/C No.

So these are the main documents necessary to be furnished for the purpose of updating the business address on the Import Export Code registration certificate.
