GSTR-9 Due Date Extended Further
Recently the government had extended the due date for the Annual GST Return filing in Form GSTR-9 after the 35th GST Council Meeting. The due date for the Annual GST Return filing was extended from 31st August 2019 to 31st November 2019. Once again, the GST Authority has further extended the deadline for the Annual GST Return filing in Form GSTR-9 and Audit report in GSTR-9C for the FY 2017-18 from 31st November 2019 to 31st December 2019, and for the FY 2018-19 to 31st March 2020. This has provided further relief to all the taxpayers having GST registration.
1. How much has the Annual GST Return filing due date been extended?
Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) notified that the due dates have been extended from for the filing of:-
- The GST Annual Return in Form GSTR-9 and the Reconciliation Statement / GST Audit Report in Form GSTR-9C for the Financial Year 2017-18 from 30th November to 31st December 2019.
- GST Annual Return in Form GSTR-9 and the GST Audit Report in Form GSTR-9C for the Financial Year 2018-19 from 31st December 2019 to 31st March 2020.
Moreover, the GST department is also working on simplifying these GST return forms by making some of the fields in these forms optional. This will make the annual GST return filing procedure a bit more convenient for the taxpayers having GST registration.
