Hold on! There is no further adjournment of GSTR-1 due date.

There is no doubt that there has been intense hullaballoo related to GST in the month of January 2018.Recently, there has been a hearsay regarding the extension of the due date for filing of the GST (Goods and Services Tax) Return- 1, once again. It was erroneously reported by some anonymous source that the ministry of finance of India has further extended the deadline for filing of GSTR-1 till 15th of January 2018.

The Department of Goods and Services Tax has maintained that as per the previous notification by the Central Tax department that was issued on 29th of December 2017, the deadline for filing of GSTR-1 remains unchanged as that of 10th January 2018. In this respect, the GST department has tweeted-

It had spread the wave of joy among all those taxpayers who might have failed to comply with the aforesaid mandate, but the truth is that original due date for filing of GSTR-1 is 10th January 2018, which is today.
